Dear J. K. Rowling,
You are amazing. You have done wonderful things for so many people, giving them hope where there was none. You gave them a dream to have— something to fantasize about and something to look forward to as they grew older and more books with more pages and more stories arrived. And you didn’t even stop there. You gave them movies and a website, so that the story wouldn’t truly end and so that they could be a part of the wonderfully dynamic world that you created. It’s a beautifully articulated set of works that have helped my friends and I become closer. It gave us something to talk about and a great source for speculation. It brings people together, across countries and places, helping them to get along and understand that we’re not all that different. Thank you. Thank you for all of it. It is fantastic. I only hope that the books that I create will affect people in such delightfully positive ways.

If you see a heart at the bottom of your letter, it is nothing to be alarmed about. We are only putting the heart there so we know which letters have been added to our book that is in the editing process.

By now, I think you may have realised that your books mean so much to people. I’m unsure though whether you’ll ever understand the extent of how much your books mean to people. They’re a lifeline for some, a thing to return to when that awful loneliness that so many people feel kicks in. I’ve grown up with Harry Potter and I don’t think I’d have it any other way because the characters portray so much truth that you can find a part of yourself in all characters, the light and the dark, so whenever I’m low, they allow me to reflect on my actions. I’m an immense fan of both the filmic version and your books and they portray the idea that nobody is ever perfect and they don’t have to be and I think with all the media and models around trying to impersonate perfection, Harry Potter made me realise that I don’t have to be perfect to triumph. I visited leavesden studios the other day, where I completely burst into tears when I saw the model of Hogwarts, because all I kept on thinking was “it’s real, it’s really real” as stupid as it sounds although its only fictional, that sense of freedom and courage Hogwarts represents is the thing that’s real. I just felt so sad that this fantastically detailed world you’ve created isn’t real to touch, but I felt such a sense of inspiration because I know that if I try hard enough I can break through the Walls of the world I live in now, I can and I will find something that will connect to me just as much. Watching your episode of ‘who do you think you are?’ made me understand how much courage meant to you and you should be the proudest woman in existence for creating this source of courage, bringing people through all sorts of issues and making me realise that even if the parchment is rough we can all write smoothly and things are going to be okay. Thank you for saving me. I mean it. You inspired me to go after my dreams of being an actress and having the courage to go for it. You wonderful woman, J.K.

I met Harry Potter when I was 7, many films have been filmed since then. My father took me to a blockbuster and when we opened the door, there he was. When my father recognised the scar, he told me a story about a 11 years old little boywho people used to call Harry Potter, and then he told me Harry was a wizard. I freaked Out. I’d already loved magic before 7, but when I met Harry, Ron and Hermione, magic changed. Magic became real.
Two years later, my father died. That was the year when I started to read your books. I fell in love with it so deeply! I still in love with Harry, Snape, Luna, Neville, Bellatrix and all that characters and situations you put in your books. It helped me so much to get better when things start to going down with my father’s death. Thank you. Thank you for taking me away for some hours.
There was a time when I stoped reading Harry Potter. Only when I came back to Hogwarts, I’ve figured out how much I was missing it. I keep reading, watching and loving Harry Potter since then.
I would like to thank you for all the magic and instructions about courage, loyalty, friendship, love and values you gave me.

What to say? You’ve changed my life more than once! With every book and every movie, my life was lit up! I remember trying to read the books in grade 2 but as soon as I got to Hermione’s name, I called it quits! I can’t believe I did that! Now I can spell her name without even giving it a second though! I picked the books back up again when the first movie had come out, and fell instantly in love with the magic and wonder of Hogwarts. What a tragic day it was for me on my 11th birthday not to receive a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts! (I attribute my lost letter to the tragedy in 1998 at Hogwarts, they must have misplaced my file!)
I am currently now 20 years old and how sad it was to read the last book as I was entering university. Harry Potter had ended, and so it seemed, so did my childhood. Your books had become ingrained in my childhood and preteen years. With every year as I grew up, so did the books. Even the university I chose to go to happens to run on the oxford system (as most universities don’t in Canada), and I was smitten when I heard that they had 4 houses of which I could be a part of! My housemates and myself happen to be a group of 4, and all represent a different house, and we even earn house points for good deeds! Harry Potter is still a part of me and my daily life.
Your books have been a huge part of my imagination, my art and life! So many inspirational characters and quotes, and so much symbolism and imaginary! You truly wove together one of the most beautiful pieces of art our era has seen!
Although a part of me craves for yet another Harry Potter book, I know all good things must come to an end. I hope that you continue to share with the world your worlds and thoughts, as they are truly ones to be heard.
Your a beautiful person, inside and out, and I’m glad to see that being a genuinely good person, can get you through this big bad world. Your an inspiration Jo, thank you.

I really wanted to come up with a funny, emotional and witty letter to you to show you how grateful I truly am to you, but I really do suck at expressing myself when I have so much to say so I’m just doing the best I can.
As a four-year-old, I saw the Philosopher’s Stone for the first time at the cinema. Little did my mother know that she’d just introduced her soon-to-be die-hard fangirl daughter to the phenomenon that changed her life forever.
I siriusly appreciate your dedication and your brilliant mind, and the way you’ve created a whole other world with the subtle yet brilliant hints to mythology and interesting character etymologies and your complex plots and all the minor details you must have spent forever perfecting, and how you’ve managed to weave every tiny thing and make it all fit together flawlessly. “The mind is a complex and many layered thing,” Snape said, and so is Harry Potter. But in the case of a true Potterhead, “to speak of one is to speak of the other”! (I’m sorry, that was a terrible attempt at trying to make a really witty Harry Potter reference!)
You’ve invented a world so full of detail and rich in history and magic that it’s impossible to not believe that it may exist. Of course it’s all happening inside our heads, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?
Thank you for helping me to believe. Thank you for creating a whole world I can escape to. Thank you for creating not just my childhood, but my entire life, and helping to shape me as a person. Thank you for helping me to think about who I am and finding myself. Thank you for all the laughter, the tears, the heartbreak, the magic, and for creating wonderful characters that I can relate to, empathise with and call friends. Thank you for turning me into an emotional wreck whenever I think about the past ten years of my life and how much I owe you and how truly brilliant you are for creating such a magical phenomenon and touching the lives of millions of Potterheads everywhere. Thank you for teaching me the importance of love and friendship. Thank you for all the other important life lessons you’ve taught me. Thank you for staying so strong when you were in depression and then writing Harry Potter. You inspire me, and I don’t know what I’d do without you. Thank you for a place I can call home. Thank you for all the amazing memories.
Thank you for so much more than I could ever say in a letter. Meeting you to thank you in person is top of my bucket list! No matter if it happens in 5 years or in 50 years, I won’t ever stop hoping. There’s so much more I wish I could say. Thank you for being so amazing that you’re making me cry while writing this.
I can’t even put into words how much Harry Potter means to me. Cliché, I know, but I honestly can’t. I’ve literally grown up with the series, watching the characters develop as I have. As you once said, the stories we love best do live in us forever. Harry Potter is my past, present and future… Always. Until the very end. No matter what the Muggles say!

Dear J.K.Rowling. I’m not good writter of letters, but I have to write to you. It’s very strange, that I don’t know you, but you changed my life, made my childhood incredibly magical and made me became person that I am. I love your books. I love your characters. They touched my life much more then anything else. I was about 4 or 5 when my Harry Potter obsession started. I still remember that day when my grandma bought first Harry Potter book. And it just happened. I can’t explain it - I mean, they are just books, but they are differente. It touched hearts of millions people. It changed lots of lifes to better. I’ll never forget those days when I was ill and I just layed in my bed and I was in my own magical world - reading your books. Those are the happiest memories I have. Everytime I think of my childhood, I don’t think about friends or parents and so on - Harry Potter always comes to my mind first. And also now, when I’m teenager, sometimes I’m in a bad mood, so I just take my old books and read till I’m happy again. It makes me happy. It really does. Harry is my hero, my first love, my everything. He’s perfect. Books are perfect. Even now, when it seems like it’s end of everything - not for me. It will never end. I’m looking forward to days, when I’ll have kids and I’ll give them my books and magic will be forever in our hearts.
I hope that I will meet you someday, but if not, never mind, because I’ve already met you in books. You really put your heart to it. I wish you luck with your new book, I believe that it will be succesful and people will love it. And the last thing I want to say - I admire you. You’re my inspiration. I hope you’re happy, wherever you are.
With love
